Intelligence Squared (IQ2) produces podcasts and video content and hosts live debates and events. It also provides events and audio and video solutions for businesses. The company has established itself as the leading forum for live, agenda-setting debates, talks and discussions around the world. Its aim is to promote a global conversation that enables people to make informed decisions about the issues that matter, in the company of the world’s greatest minds and orators.

We are looking for an Executive Producer of Podcasts to focus on building on our current success. The Executive Producer will oversee the day-to-day production of all editorial podcasts, will offer creative input and ideation on branded podcasts, and will look to launch new editorial podcasts and grow the podcast team.

This is a new and really important role at Intelligence Squared. We’ve grown quickly on both the editorial and branded parts of our podcast business and we need an experienced leader who can make sure that our editorial podcasts are as great as they can be and that we’re recruiting the best people to be part of a team that values collegiality as much as productivity.

The Executive Producer will report to the Head of Podcasts.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and growing the main Intelligence Squared podcast
  • Generating and developing new editorial podcasts that will succeed in the UK and other markets, including the US
  • Scoping out the production and marketing costs, setting production timelines and budgets, launching new shows and continuing the push to grow them after launch
  • Helping generate and hone ideas for branded podcasts, as part of a creative braintrust
  • Working with the Head of Podcasts and the CEO on growth strategies
  • Working with the audience development team to make sure promotional plans are in place for podcasts
  • Overseeing editing, scripting and sound design
  • Helping recruit new producers and other team members as the podcast part of the company grows
  • Helping recruit and develop podcast hosts
  • Contracting with freelance producers and editors to produce shows
  • Exploring co-productions on new shows with other production companies

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience as an outstanding editorial leader with a track record of generating new audio ideas that become critically and commercially successful
  • A fast metabolism and an ability to pivot quickly and juggle multiple projects while maintaining standards
  • Strong writing skills
  • A commitment to including diverse and representative voices in the production process and in the finished product
  • A commitment to colleagues and their success and development
  • Experience managing audio producers and editors
  • Strong journalistic and storytelling skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A passion for debate, discussion, current affairs and thought leadership

Intelligence Squared is committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce and we particularly encourage applicants from diverse and under-represented backgrounds.

Salary range: £53,000-58,000 plus inclusion in the company’s results-linked bonus scheme. There will be a three-month probationary period.

The company offers a full pension scheme and 25 days of holiday, plus bank holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year, in lieu of attending some Intelligence Squared evening events during the year. For now, team members work from home but are expected to attend at least one day in an office in London every two weeks. If the company returns permanently to an office that will be the primary place of work.

Please send a cover letter and CV to careers@intelligencesquared.com. Please include Executive Podcast Producer in the subject line. The deadline for applications is September 30.
