About the role:

We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Global Partnerships Director to lead our efforts in generating new business and driving revenue growth. This is a super important role at the company. The Global Partnerships Director will focus on selling branded podcasts, events, and digital solutions to brands, as well as securing sponsorships for our event series. As the lead revenue generator for partnerships, you will play a critical role in the expansion and success of Intelligence Squared. It’s a highly entrepreneurial, revenue-focused role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Identify and target potential sponsors and partners, leveraging your network and industry knowledge to generate new business opportunities. Be fully comfortable making cold approaches.
  • Client Relationship Management: We want to keep our clients happy – and we want to keep them. So you will build and maintain strong relationships with brands and clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and long-term partnerships. This is a London-based job and you will embrace the value in in-person meetings and networking even as many meetings have moved online. You’ll be looking for events, conferences and relevant meetings to attend as you look for new business.
  • Proposal Development: We’re a small team so you will be pivotal to helping create compelling proposals and presentations that align with client objectives and demonstrate the value of partnering with Intelligence Squared.
  • Negotiation and Closing: You’ll be finding new business and closing deals, so you will be responsible for the process from start to finish. You will lead negotiations and oversee contracting.
  • Collaboration: We all get our hands dirty at Intelligence Squared. So you will work closely with the marketing, content, and events teams to ensure alignment and maximize the impact of sponsorship and partnership initiatives. This is a role for someone who is confident, self-sufficient and happy with doing tasks that in a bigger company support staff might cover.
  • Reporting: Monitor and report on sales performance, providing weekly updates to the CEO and adjusting strategies as needed to achieve targets. 
  • Having Ideas: Everyone at the company knows they can suggest anything at any time. This is a place where innovation and creativity are encouraged and rewarded. 
  • Using Data: You will enjoy using data to help you sell and you will look for ways to improve our use and collection of data.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or partnerships, preferably within the media, events, or digital content industries.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in generating new business and achieving revenue targets. You have built sustained pipelines of leads, managing them in a CRM, converting a high percentage. 
  • Networking: Strong network of contacts within relevant industries and a proven ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposals and presentations. 
  • Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to close deals effectively.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans that drive business growth.
  • Team Player: Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for Content: A genuine interest in the content and mission of Intelligence Squared, with a passion for intellectual and cultural discussions.
