Nicola Sturgeon is one of the defining political figures of our age. Scotland’s first female and longest-serving First Minister, Sturgeon led her country through some of the most consequential moments in recent UK history, including the independence referendum, Brexit, and the Covid pandemic.
On August 6 Sturgeon comes to Intelligence Squared to reflect on a life of political leadership, the future for Scotland and the UK, and the state of British politics today. Drawing on her acclaimed memoir Frankly she will also shed light on her journey from a childhood in council housing to the upper echelons of politics in the UK. And she will talk about the pressures faced by women in public life and the sometimes great personal cost demanded of women in positions of power.
