Speakers: Lord Chris Smith
The Environment Agency is calling for the immediate development of carbon capture and storage for coal-fired power stations as part of a Green New Deal for the UK, the idea being that the technology could then be sold around the world, especially to the main coal-burning countries such as China and the US. Coal is still abundant and will remain a major energy resource across the world, so ways to make it cleaner are extremely important. Chairman of the Evironment Agency Lord Smith advocates UK government investment in carbon capture technology as a way to kick-start the UK economy.
