Spencer Finch discusses his work The River That Flows Both Ways. This work uses 700 panes of glass - each one representing the colour of the Hudson River in 700 different minutes (at four minute intervals) on one day in June 2008. The name of the piece is taken from the Native American name for the Hudson, so-called because it is tidal. It celebrates the growing connection between New York and its waterfront.
