Speakers: Godfrey Barker, Felix Braun, Richard Noble, Patricia Ellis
Godfrey Barker, Patricia Ellis, Richard Noble and Felix Braun discuss the definition of ephemeral art, and art that is deliberately made to be ephemeral. Is it nonsensical to produce art that is deliberately on the road to destruction, with the thought that the concept can survive? Or is it a good representation of humankind?
A discussion ensues as to whether the concept or the representation of the concept is more important, and whether a marketplace of ideas can exist. The panel discuss the notion that art works, through time, sometimes become historical objects, and explore the consequences for the original intention of the artist. Lastly, the speakers and the audience discuss whether the art market, particularly at the top level, is manipulated, fraudulent and immoral.
