Speakers: Peter Mandaville
Peter Mandaville, Associate Professor in the Department of Public and International Affairs at George Mason University, Virginia, talks to Daljit Dhaliwal about the Swiss referedum banning the construction of minarets. Mandaville explains how the ban is the latest sympton of the growing unease around the integration of Muslims into Europe, even in a country like Switzerland, which has a history of religious pluralism and tolerance. The upshot of this growing unease is that centre-right, and even far-right, parties, are now being given more attention than they were even ten years ago.
