Speakers: Peter Baily
In this 'Pecha Kucha' style presentation from the 'Because It's There' Mountain Festival, Peter Baily explains his view that "when we head off into the mountains, we go, not to get physical, but to get spiritual". In Baily's mind, mountaineering allows us to explore who we are as well as the nature around us, and teaches us how to connect with other people. He explains the history of spirituality in mountaineering circles, quoting such distinguished mountaineers as Walter Bonatti and Gaston Rébuffat.
