Speakers: Martin Parr
Martin Parr discusses his exhibition Parrworld, showing at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. Parr finds it appropriate that the exhibition is being staged in the North of England, as this region is one of the earliest influences on his photography. He also identifies the North of England as a very important region in the history and development of documentary photography.
Parr explains his addiction to collecting objects, from photographic books to other photographers' work. His extensive collection of prints from famous photographers can be seen on the second floor of Parrworld, whilst the first floor contains his exhibition Luxury, a collection of his own photographs which explore the theme of wealth.
