Speakers: Deborah Amos
Deborah Amos introduces her book, Eclipse of the Sunnis: Power, Exile and Upheaval in the Middle East (2010) which focuses on the empowerment of the Shias and the unresolved sectarian divide in Iraq. She also examines an under-reported consequence of the Iraq war: the exile of several million predominantly Sunni Muslim Iraqis. Amos discusses the consequences of the sectarian divide for Iraq and its stability, and the shift in population demographics caused by exiled Iraqis.
