Speakers: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie discusses her key literary influences and the role of her homeland Nigeria in her work. Revealing that she did not initially recognise the magnitude of having lived in the same house as Chinua Achebe, she describes how his work gave her confidence to write about African people, rather than the blond haired, blue-eyed children of the distant Enid Blyton stories she read as a child.
