Andrew Parker on natural nanotechnology and design solutions

27 Sep 2010

Speakers: Andrew Parker

As the author of The Genesis Enigma: Why The Bible Is Scientifically Accurate, Andrew Parker is clearly a man for unusual combinations. In this talk he expounds upon the possibilities of another unusual collaboration, between nature and industry. Inspired by the harmonious existence of animals and plants in their natural environment, Parker argues the case for biomimetics, where humans can draw inspiration from natural paradigms to forge truly sustainable solutions for living. He demonstrates the functional parallels between animal and human structures, and questions how these can be achieved on a daily basis by basic organisms, yet require the vast consumption of both time and resources when attempted by humans. In this fascinating talk, Parker proposes that, by first appreciating and understanding what already exists, we can unite ‘vision with action to change the world’, creating efficient and credible ways to resolve the many problems faced by mankind.
