Nick Bostrom discusses the Future of Humanity Institute, a divison of the 21st Century School established to analyse some of the more pressing problems facing humanity that have so far been largely neglected.
The Institute specialises in four areas: the first, human enchancement, is mainly based around cognitive enhancement; the second involves an examination of global catostrophic risks to determine the risks that the planet faces, how these risks are interlinked, and how we can take measures to prevent them; the third, rationality and wisdom, is an attempt to apply a critical approach to the problems facing the planet; the fourth, future directions, looks for 'crucial considerations', variables that might influence the path that humanity takes in the future.
