Julian Savulescu on the ethics of the new biosciences

Oct 2008

Speakers: Julian Savulescu

Julian Savulescu discusses the current aims of the Program of the Ethics of the New Biosciences and suggests how the program will develop in the future. He also discusses how the program is likely to overlap with other fields of research, such as nanotechnology, information technology and, particularly, neuroscience.

Finally, he gives an example of what the program is trying to do - in this case assessing how researchers are using neuroscience to challenge concepts of free-will, consciousness, and decision making.
