Speakers: George Monbiot
George Monbiot discusses the climate crisis and the need to act quickly to prevent a 2°C increase in global temperatures. This, he says, is a tipping point that would trigger positive feedback cycles and greatly exacerbate the exisitng warming. He cites the German Government's plans for a European Supergrid as one of the ways in which this reduction can be achieved. He also notes the solar energy potential of the Sahara Desert and suggests how Britain can become self-succient in renewable energy.
