Author and journalist
Sharon Waxman is a best-selling author, award-winning journalist, and founder of TheWrap.com, a primary news source focused on the business and entertainment and media. Waxman graduated from Barnard College in 1985, where she studied English Literature, before gaining an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from St. Antony’s College, Oxford.
Having learnt both Hebrew and Arabic during her studies, Waxman joined Reuters in Jerusalem, before moving to Europe in the late 1980s to cover the collapse of the Soviet Union and the consequent establishment of a unified Europe. She has written for a variety of US newspapers, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Los Angeles Times, writing on subjects as diverse as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Hollywood culture. Her authored books include Rebels on the Backlot: 6 Maverick Directors and How They Conquered the Hollywood Studio System (2005) and Loot: The Battle Over the Stolen Treasures of the Ancient World (2008).
