Award-winning artist
Dutch artist Saskia Olde Wolbers was educated at the Chelsea College of Art & Design and the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her works take the form of videos, mostly filmed underwater in sets made out of a variety of materials, with fictional stories narrated over the top. Her work has been exhibited at Tate Britain (Placebo, 2002), the South London Gallery and the Art Gallery of New South Wales (Trailers, 2005), and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (SMAK). Collections of work are held at the SMAK and the South London Gallery. Wolbers was the recipient of the Prix de Rome Film & Video Award in 2002, the Basel Art Fair's Bâloise Prize in 2003, and the Beck's Futures Prize in 2004.
