Sara Wheeler is a non-fiction writer who specialises in the poles of the earth. She is the author of the crtically-acclaimed Terra Incognita: Travels in Antarctica (1999), and The Magnetic North: Notes from the Arctic Circle, which was 2009's book of the year.
