Historian and broadcaster
Simon Schama is Professor of History and Art History at Columbia University and a contributing editor of the Financial Times. His many works on history and art include Landscape and Memory (1996), Dead Certainties (1992), Rembrandt's Eyes (1999), and his history of the French Revolution, Citizens (1989). He is best known for writing and hosting the 15-part BBC documentary series A History of Britain along with a trilogy of books of the same name. His book and BBC show Rough Crossings, dealing with stories of migration across the Atlantic Ocean, was released in 2005. In 2006 the BBC broadcast the series Simon Schama's Power of Art which won an Emmy award and was also accompanied by a book. In 2008 he published the book The American Future and presented the BBC series of the same name. A collection of his essays, Scribble Scribble Scribble, will be published in August.
