Politician; Campaign Director, Future Heathrow
Lord Clive Soley is a former politician and is the current Campaign Director of Future Heathrow, which aims to bring about the expansion of Heathrow. He did his National Service in the RAF for two years from 1959, before studying at the University of Strathclyde and graduating with a BA in politics and psychology. He was a British Council Officer in the late-1960s, and worked as a probation officer for the Inner London Probation Service throughout the 1970s.
Soley joined Hammersmith Council as a councillor in 1974, became Hammersmith North's Member of Parliament in 1979, and later served as MP for Hammersmith, Ealing, and Shepherd's Bush. He was Chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party from 1997 to 2001, and was created a life peer in 2005.
