Freelance writer and broadcaster
Joe Studwell has worked as a freelance writer and journalist throughout the world for nearly 20 years. He has also written several books, including The China Dream: the Quest for the Greatest Untapped Market on Earth (2002) and Asian Godfathers: Money and Power in Hong Kong and South-East Asia (2007). The Wall Street Journal (Asia) named Asian Godfathers one of the ten best books on Asia that year.
From 1997 to 2007, Studwell was Editor-in-Chief of the China Economic Quarterly (CEQ). He was also a Founder and Director of the Asian advisory firm Dragonomics. He lives in Italy, but is undertaking post-graduate research at the University of Cambridge about Chinese firms in the solar, wind and battery sectors. He is also a Visiting Fellow of the Centre for East Asian Studies at the University of Bristol.
