Palestinian diplomat
Afif Safieh is Palestinian Christian diplomat who has served as the Palestinian Ambassador to the United States, United Kingdom and Russia. He was born in Jerusalem and attended the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, before attending the Paris Institute of Political Studies, graduating in 1974. He served as a staff member in President Yasser Arafat’s office in Beirut in charge of European affairs and U.N. institutions. Prior to his ambassadorial roles he was a researcher at the Centre for European Studies in the Catholic University of Louvain and the visiting scholar at the Centre for International Affair at Harvard University.
