Financier and policy advisor
Steve Rattner is a financier and policy advisor. After graduating from Brown University, he began a career at the New York Times. He then left journalism and joined Morgan Stanley, where he founded their Communications Group. Moving to Lazard Freres he also set up their Media and Communications Group and became an influential media advisor. In 2000, he founded the media-focused private equity firm the Quadrangle Group which he led until early 2009, when he was named as an advisor to the Treasury Department. He was appointed head of the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry, and had a key involvement in the administration’s restructuring of the auto industry.
