Historian
Andrew Roberts is a British Historian and has spent 20 years researching, writing and broadcasting extensively about both Churchill and the Second World War. His first book, The Holy Fox (1997), was a biography of Churchill’s foreign secretary Lord Halifax, and since then he has published – amongst others - Eminent Churchillians (1994), Hitler and Churchill: Secrets of Leadership (2003) (accompanying his 4-part BBC2 history series), A History of the English-Speaking Peoples Since 1900 (2006) (which won the US Intercollegiate Studies Institute Book Award) and Masters and Commanders: How Roosevelt, Churchill, Marshall and Alanbrooke Won the War in the West 1941-45 (2008). Roberts has won the Wolfson Prize for History, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, an honorary Doctor of Humane Literature, a permanent judge of the Elizabeth Longford Historical Biography Prize and he reviews history books for over a dozen newspapers and periodicals.
