Author
Sri Lankan-born Michael Ondaatje lived in England briefly before emigrating to Canada as a child. He was educated at the University of Toronto and Queens in Kingston, Ontario, before gaining teaching jobs at the University of Western Ontario, York University (Ontario), and Glendon college.
Ondaatje is best-known as the author of The English Patient (1992), which was subsequently adapted for the screen and won 9 Oscars. Other works include the Running in the Family(1984), Coming through Slaughter (2004), and Anil's Ghost (2004).
