Rabbi, author, broadcaster, social reformer, Member of the House of Lords
Following her degree at Newnham College, Cambridge, Julia Neuberger obtained her Rabbinic Diploma at Leo Baeck College, London. She is Britain's second female Rabbi, and the first to oversee her own synongogue. She had her own chat show 'Choices' during the late 1980s, was Chair of Camden and Islington Community Health Services NHS Trust for five years, and ran the King's Fund for six years.
Neuberger was appointed a DBE in 2003, and was awarded a life peerage in 2004, as Baroness Neuberger of Primrose Hill. She is president of the Liberal Judaism movement and has written extensively on Judaism, women, healthcare, ethics and volunteering. Her books include Not Dead Yet: A Manifesto for Old Age (2009), and The State We're In (2006).
