Edward Luttwak is a strategist and historian. He is Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC, and of the F&M Institute of the Japan Ministry of Finance. He has been a governmental consultant for the US Secretary of Defence, the National Security Council and the US Department of State, as well as all three branches of the American Military.
He is President of Amazonas that runs a conservation ranch in the Amazon and Chairman of the Board of an aircraft leasing company in Dublin. Luttwak's books include The Grand Strategy of the Byzantine Empire (2009), Strategy: The Logic of War and Peace (2002), Coup d’état: A Practical Handbook (1968), and The Pentagon and the Art of War, The Question of Military Reform (1984)
