Conservative MP and author of Ghosts of Empire: Britain's Legacies in the Modern World
Kwasi Kwarteng is the Conservative MP for Spelthorne in Surrey and author of the forthcoming book Ghosts of Empire. Born to Ghanaian parents in Britain, he attended Eton College before readin ghistory at Trinity College, Cambridge, and worked as a financial analyst, journalist and author before beginning his political career. Kwarteng unsuccessfully stood as a candidate for Brent East in the 2005 General Election, but was elected as MP for Spelthorne in May 2010. He was elected to the Transport Select Committee for the Conservative Party in June 2010.
