Writer, broadcaster, and Professor of Renaissance Studies
Lisa Jardine is Centenary Professor of Renaissance Studies at Queen Mary, University of London, and was the first female Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge. She is also the Chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority. She writes for many of the UK's major national newspapers and magazines, and appears regularly on television and radio. Jardine is the author of a number of best-selling general books, including Worldly Goods: A New History of the Renaissance (1998), Ingenious Pursuits: Building the Scientific Revolution (1999), biographies of Sir Christopher Wren and Robert Hooke, and most recently,Going Dutch: How England Plundered Holland's Glory (2009).
