Military historian and columnist
Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow in Residence in Classics and Military History at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. He was educated at the University of California, Santa Cruz and Stanford University.
Before assuming his current position at the Hoover Institution, Hanson was for many years a professor of classics at Cal State University, Fresno. He is the author of a number of books, including Warfare and Agriculture in Classical Greece (1998) and The Western Way of War (2000), and has written for publications such as the New York Times and the Washington Post. He currently serves on the boards of the journals Military History Quarterly, and City Journal.
Hanson has been the recipient of numerous prizes, including the National Humanities Medal in 2007, the Claremont Institute's Statesmanship Award in 2008, and the Bradley prize from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation in 2008.
