Graphic designer and artist
Swiss artist Thomas Hirschorn is best known for his use of everydayday materials such as plastic, cardboard and packing tape. His works include Cavemanman (2002) for which he turned a gallery into a cave using cardboard and wood. He was born in Bern, and worked in Paris as a graphic artist before joining the group of Communist graphic designers, Grapus. Hirschhorn's work has been exhibited at the Hayward Gallery and the Tate in London, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. He was the recipient of the 2000/2001 Marchel Duchamp Prize, and the 2004 Joseph Beuys Prize.
