Roger Highfield is a science journalist, author and broadcaster. science journalist, author and broadcaster. He was born in Wales, raised in north London, and has written half a dozen books, sat on a few committees and was the science editor of The Daily Telegraph for two decades. Today, he is the Editor of New Scientist.
He has also written seven books. The latest, with Martin Nowak of Harvard University, is Supercooperators: The Mathematics of Evolution, Altruism and Human Behaviour (Or, Why We Need Each Other to Succeed). Manfred Milinski in Nature describes the book as "part autobiography, part textbook, and reads like a best-selling novel." Science Minister, David Willetts says it is an "excellent example" of using the nexus of evolutionary biology, game theory and neuroscience to understand the development of cooperation in society, and suggests that "all politicians can draw inspiration and ideas from the intellectual resources of this exciting approach".
