Award-winning American journalist, broadcaster and blogger
American journalist John Hockenberry is widely recognised for his contribution to pioneering online content. In 2007 Hockenberry accepted a position as a Distinguished Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab. He has hosted NPR’s Talk of the Nation and, more recently, the US morning news programme The Takeaway. He has worked for ABC and NBC, as well as having contributed articles to The New York Times, The New Yorker, ID, Wired, and The Washington Post.
Hockenberry was born in Dayton, Ohio, and attended the University of Chicago and the University of Oregon. His authored works include A River Out Of Eden (2002) and Moving Violations: War Zones, Wheelchairs and Declarations of Independence (1995). In 2006, Hockenberry began writing a blog, The Blogenberry, later renamed in 2007 to The Blogenberry World. He has received four Emmy awards and three Peabody awards, an Edward R Murrow Award, and a Casey Medal.
