Historian and Marxist
Prominent British historian and academic figure Eric Hobsbawm has written over twenty historical works. After graduating with a PhD from Cambridge, Hobsbawn continued his academic career as a lecturer, Professor, and later Emeritus Professor of History, at Birbeck College, of which he is now president. He is also Fellow of the Britsh Academy and an honorary Foreign Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Hobsbawm's books include The Age of Revolution: Europe 1789-1848 (1962), The Age of Extremes: The Short Twentieth Century, 1914-1991 (1994), and On Empire: America, War, and Global Supremacy (2008).
