Former Director of Mossad
Since 2003, Efraim Halevy has headed the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In the late 1950s and early 60s, he edited the journal Monthly Survey, before joining Mossad, joining the Chief Branches Forum in 1967. Former Director of Mossad and the Israeli National Security Council. He became the Israeli ambassador to the European Union in 1996, before being appointed director of Mossad two years later.
Halevy was appointed as head of the National Security Council and advisor to Ariel Sharon in 2002, only to resign from the position in 2003. He is the author of Man in the Shadows (2006), a history of post-1980 Middle Eastern history.
