Neuroscientist; Head of Special Projects, Public
Engagement, Wellcome Trust
Daniel Glaser is an imaging neuroscientist, whose research focuses on human brain function, and the first ‘Scientist in Residence’ at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London, the first appointment of its kind at an arts institution. He is currently Head of Special Projects in Public
Engagement at the Wellcome Trust.
Glaser's academic background is an unusual one; he studied maths and then English literature at Cambridge, before gaining an MA in Cognitive Science at Sussex University. He has made numerous appearances on national and local radio and has featured in articles in daily newspapers and on the Internet. He is the co-founder of the ICA's Cafe Scientifique, which is the London branch of a national series providing a new way for scientists to interact with the general public. Glaser’s interests lie in public engagement with science and finding novel ways for scientists to collaborate with non-scientists, particularly arts practitioners.
