Sophie Fiennes

Filmmaker

Sophie Fiennes is an English filmmaker. Her work includes Hoover Street Revival, a 2003 documentary about a Pentecostal church in Los Angeles, and 2000's The Late Michael Clark, a film about her friend Michael Clark.

Feinnes began her career at the Chelsea School of Art, and made her first films in 1998, after time spent working under director Peter Greenaway and managing the UK-based dance body, The Michael Clark Company. She has worked with artists and thinkers ranging from dance maker Alain Platel to philosopher and psychoanalyst Slavoj Zizek, her films acting as powerful portraits of some of today’s most iconic individuals. Fiennes was awarded a NESTA fellowship in 2001.
