Former Senator from Georgia and former US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia
After serving briefly in the US Army Wyche Folwer qualified as a lawyer, and became Chief of Staff for Congressman Charles Weltner, after which he resigned to become a public attorney. He then served as an Atlanta City Councilman before being elected to the House of Representatives in 1977. In 1986 he was elected to the US Senate and served as the junior Senator from Georgia until 1992. President Bill Clinton appointed him as US ambassador to Saudi Arabia in 1996, a post he held until 2001. Since then Fowler has joined the legal firm Powell, Goldstein, Frazer, and Murphy and also serves as board Chairman of the Middle East Institute.
