Economist, journalist, writer
Frances Cairncross is an economist and journalist who has written for a number of newspapers, including The Guardian, The Times, The Banker and The Observer. She has also served as Management Editor at The Economist. In 2003, she won the Institute of Internal Auditors’ annual award for business and management journalism and became Rector of Exeter College, University of Oxford in 2004. In 2006, she became an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is an honorary member of the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BA).
Cairncross is the author of a number of books, including The Company of the Future: Shaping Up to the Management Challenges of the Communications Revolution (2002) and The Death of Distance (2001).
