Director, Institute of Nanoscience for Medicine
Sonia Contera is the University RCUK Fellow in Biological Physics and Nanomedicine, based in the Department of Physics at Oxford University. She has over 10 years experience in the fields of Nanoscience, Biological Physics and Scanning Probe Microscopy. She graduated in Physics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and has a PhD in Applied Physics from Osaka University Graduate School of Engineering. Sonia was awarded postdoctoral fellowships in SANKEN, Osaka University and the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Centre at the University of Aarhus, Denmark. She moved to Oxford Physics Dept .in 2003 and now leads a research group at the Condensed Matter subdepartment where she is a member of the academic staff. Sonia is a member of the organising committee of the SSDM conference in Japan and the editorial board of Cancer Nanotechnology.
