Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

David Cameron is the current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. After reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University, David Cameron joined the Conservative Research Department and was Director of Corporate Affairs at Carlton Communications for seven years.

In 2001 Cameron was elected as Member of Parliament for the Oxfordshire constituency of Witney, after being defeated in running for the Stafford seat in 1997. He rose rapidly to become head of policy co-ordination during the 2005 general election campaign, and succeeded Michael Howard as Conservative Party leader later that year. He had previously served as Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Skills. Following the 2010 general election he became Prime Minister in the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government, becoming the youngest PM for almost 200 years.
