Author and journalist
Jason Burke is a British journalist who is currently the Chief Reporter for the Observer. Since graduating from the University of Oxford in 1992, he has spent much of his time working and travelling in the Middle East and Southwest Asia. Burke lived in Pakistan during the late 1990s and covered the rise and fall of the Taliban. He is the author of two books: Al-Qaeda: the True Story of Radical Islam (2004) which has been translated into seven languages, and On the Road to Kandahar: Travels Through Conflict in the Islamic World (2006). He is a regular contributor to television and radio in the UK and overseas.
