American political scientist specialising in US foreign policy
Ian Bremmer is the president of the global political risk research and consulting firm, Eurasia Group.
Bremmer started the firm in 1998. The firm's client base includes more than 200 multinational companies, leading financial institutions, government departments, and political leaders.
Bremmer has written for the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Newsweek, and Harvard Business Review. His six books include The J Curve: A New Way to Understand Why Nations Rise and Fall (2006), which was selected by The Economist as one of the best books of 2006. In March 2009, he published The Fat Tail: The Power of Political Knowledge for Strategic Investing with Preston Keat, a director of research at Eurasia Group.
Bremmer has a PhD in political science from Stanford University and became the youngest-ever national fellow at the Hoover Institution. He has taught at Columbia University, the EastWest Institute, and the World Policy Institute, and in 2007 was named a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.
