Molecular Biologist Bonnie Bassler was educated at the University of California Davis and Johns Hopkins University before joining the Agouron Institute as a Postdoctoral Fellow. From there she moved to Princeton Environmental Institute where she currently teaches the courses From DNA to Human Complexity and Advanced Microbial Genetics.
Bassler is a Fellow at the American Academy of Microbiology, the MacArthur Foundation, the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She has received a number of awards, including the Theobald Smith Society Waksman Award in 2003, the Inventor of the Year Award in 2004, the President's Distinguished Teaching Award, the Princeton University and the World Cultural Council Award for Scientific Merit in 2008, and the Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences in 2009.
