President, Fox News Channel
Roger Ailes is notable figure within the American television industry. He was made Chairman of Fox Television Stations Group in 2005, nine years after joining the News Corporation subsidiary. Prior to Fox, he was instrumental as president of CNBC, making it the fastest growing major cable network in America. Ailes has also served as a political media consultant since the 1960s, including working with Republican candidates Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George W Bush.
Ailes graduated in 1962 from Ohio University. He is credited with creating Fox’s first weekly public affairs show, Fox News Sunday, and oversaw the successful launch of Fox News Channel. While he was executive producer of The Mike Douglas Show, it was nominated for two Emmy awards and won its first Emmy in 1967. Ailes is the author of You Are the Message (1989), chosen as “one of the year’s best” by The Wall Street Journal. In 2001 he was named Electronic Media’s Most Powerful Person in TV News, and in 2003 was named Broadcasting & Cable’s first Television Journalist of the Year.
