Art critic and writer
Michael Archer is an art critic and writer, whose area of expertise focuses principally on art in the years since 1960. Renowned for the strength and conviction of his opinion, Archer has written for the Guardian and across the art press. Formerly head of the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, where he was a tutor, he continued his career as a reader at Goldsmiths and has been a visiting research fellow at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. He is the author of Art since 1960 (2002), which surveyed the divergent styles, forms, practices, media, and agendas in the art of the last half century.
