Patti Smith is an American writer, artist and performer, who has recorded ten albums, written five books and exhibited her artwork worldwide. In 2010 she won the US National Book Award for her memoir Just Kids, which recounts her chance meeting and friendship with the photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. On January 25, she is appearing in conversation with Geoff Dyer for Intelligence Squared.
