Howard Jacobson in conversation with Peter Florence

22 Oct 2008

'We are all sick in our own way.' So says Felix Quinn, hero of Howard Jacobson's tenth novel, The Act of Love. Felix's sickness is the sickness of excessive love for his wife. It might not look to everyone like excessive love, because he longs for her to sleep with other men. But for Felix this is the very proof of his adoration. 'No man has ever loved a woman,' he declares, 'and not imagined her in the arms of someone else.' Only with Felix it doesn't stop at imagining....

He discussed his latest book with Peter Florence, founder of the Hay Festival.

The interview took place at: Royal Institute of British Architects.

Howard Jacobson: Author, critic and broadcaster whose latest novel is entitled "The Act of Love".
