The 20th century saw the rise of some of the most ruthless dictators in history, and in the rogue's gallery three men stand out. Between them, Hitler, Stalin and Mao killed around 100 million people. Stalin sent the innocent to sub-human treatment in the gulags and let millions of Ukrainians die of starvation. Mao sold food while his countrymen faced the worst famine in history. Is there any way of distinguishing between such colossal evils?
